 Session Synopsis:

Attend this lunch seminar to learn the fundamentals of eDiscovery and understand the implications for Audit and Compliance teams. Take an up-close look at a company’s quest for an eDiscovery and Compliance plan for 50,000+ devices, the effects of a merger, and the balance between Legal and IT. Explore how form and function of the design overcame capacity hurdles to determine a working repeatable defensible process. Assess your network infrastructure while realizing a successful eDiscovery technology implementation.

Like many other companies, we initially used a combination of off-the-shelf products not necessarily designed for eDiscovery and manual processes to fill in the gaps. Before the focus on eDiscovery, this was probably adequate. That being said, it was labor intensive and quickly drained resources. It was a question of: How many people can you throw at the problem? Something had to give.

The main drivers for bringing the eDiscovery process in-house were: cost, volume, and maintaining defensibility. Proactively leveraging eDiscovery software as a component of an overall larger effort enabled us to address these issues. Corporate Counsel viewed themselves as an integral function of the IT portion of this program, and understood it’s not something to just hand off.

Objectives:

In this session you will determine a working process by consolidating into a centralized, policy driven, repeatable, defensible process. You will explore initial IT and operational challenges, how to partner internally and with external vendors. Also, understand your infrastructure and the challenges that a dispersed network can present when systematically collecting and preserving user created data.
